Alright, splain this one to me...

I played tonight under a nom d'guerre (sp?) and when IronOre came on he said something about "God D#mn pilots" so, being a new member and all, I asked if that was consistent w/ ZT policy (so that I dont yell at someone for doing something ZT mbrs do) and he immediately goes into this tirade about kicking me or else yadda yadda yadda, so I just left rather than saying anything I would later regret.

My question(s) is:

a) Is there some big list in the sky w/ all the rules mbrs are supposed to follow that I obviously don't know about? I know others in the clan log on w/ alias' (Just4Fun comes to mind). Do I have to seek special permission to use whatever name I feel like using (language approriate of course)?

b) Is it normal to bicker amongst ourselves in front of non-clan mbrs? I refrained from saying anything in game, and opted to make a forum post instead. Seems a bit odd that we'd choose to argue in front of "guests".

c) For IronOre: What does not being in the clan from day one, contributing to the upkeep of the server and Carri (whoever that is) have to do w/ the price of tea in China and game names? Is there a rule I broke or not and if so where is it written so I can read it and other rules and be more aware of what I can and can't do. Did't seem like a very big deal but you obviously thought so

Hi Alone, Carri is one of the founders. The Boss as Ago puts it. He sets in the servers under different names to some times watch, and bring people in if server only has a couple. I also come in under different name if someone is tking to watch and see if they are doing it on purpose or not. There isn't a rule on using a different name. Its good to warn people about the language. I think to keep the peace, if you see a zt member using swear words, or not clean, which is usually about private parts. ICQ me or Carri and i will take care of it. We would like you to warn the nonmembers about the swearing, which is usually F___ and S___. It is good to not argue infront of the people playing like you said. I hope this helps. Also do you have ventrilo? You can talk to us there also, just say you need to talk to me or carri and we can move to a different chanel.

I know that IronOre has a soft spot for "flyboys"

a) We don't have any policy about using aliases. I use many aliases for the purpose of not letting others know that they are being watched by an admin.
Also when I play with my ZT| carribolo tag I get bombarded with questions and I can't enjoy the game.
We do encourage our members to use their ZT| tag and name when they play the game.

b) There should be no bickering of any kind. ZT members should set a good example of behavior.

c) this questions is directed to IronOre and I don't really get it anyway.

Finally: I would like you guys to make peace and have fun on our server.

PS. AloneWarrior get on Ventrilo as members should. It creates a friendly atmosphere between members and this kind of disagreement won't go on the game chat.

From what I read it doesn't look like you broke any rules. Im glad you didn't stay and "bicker", its happened a couple of time before and it just makes the clan look bad.

A) I use aliases sometimes(CupCake Kid/Kitty_7/Tequila)

B) Kuddos for leaving instead of stayin and fighting, my hat goes off to ya

C)Does anyone know how much Tea costs in China? I like coffee.

the dispute last night was not among the clan members because in the public.. you were the "Dog of War" not AloneWarrior. I would believe that Ironore would approach different way if you have the tag.

Ironore is on the Council. He asked you to change your name. Do it.

We all make mistakes on server sometime but you have no business to lecture Ironore again and again, badgering Ironore with ZT policy in front of PUBLIC. Like Carri and Froggy said...

I think I recall in our old website, we agreed that new members do not use aliases during probation... give ZT's Military Police a rest with tracking for spies.

I apologize for the fact that you are new to the rules.. I should have do a better job with informing you and the new members about alias name.

Playing under a different name is allowed. That wasn't the reason I was threatening a kick. I will get to that later. From my perspective, here is the course of this whole affair. I did my whole "I hate flyboys" thing which I do frequently, you responded, under a name I didn't know, about enforcing rules questioning my vulgarity. Because I didn't know the name, I was confused about why some random player was talking about server policy, so I asked you to change your name. You said something on the order of "you should know who I am from how I play." I figured at this point you were some member under a different name, but I didn't know which. I asked you again to change your name, you did not. Then you started talking about "Just4Fun" which I took as being very disrespectful and things went downhill from there. All the while, I had no clue who you were. Joker can verify this, as he was asking me on Ventrilo who you were.

It is our standard practice to kick people who pretend to be members. If they persist, we ban them. Ask Mat, I got after him pretty good one day when he was under an alias. If you had said "This is Alone Warrior" I would not have had a problem and none of this would have happened. All you have to do when ANY admin, not just me, asks you who you really are, just give your name. Sometimes it's easy to figure out, like Wild playing under the name "Card," or from how you interact with others. Sometimes it's not.

My "tirade" was not done in the correct place. For that I apologize. However, of what I said, I do not apologize. There are two sides to every argument. I came off as belligerent, but only because I felt disrespected by the tone of your argument and the fact that you never did say who you actually were.

As for the whole "d**n" thing, I don't personally believe it's all that vulgar. We can debate that point later.

Alright, lots to digest here so where to start?
First, let me apologize to Iron if I came across disrespectful. It wasn't intentional. Enuf said.
Second, we shouldn't even be having this discussion.
Everyone who joins an organization/institution/outfit gets a copy of their bylaws/policies/regulations, etc. when they join. Had I known half of what I do now from reading these forum responses I would have acted differently.
For example, every Seaman Recruit I get from Boot Camp signs a list of my dos and don't immediately upon reporting aboard, that way if I ever have an issue w/ what they've done I can point to their signature at the bottom of the list and ask "Didn't you know you weren't supposed to date the Admiral's daughter?" and "By the way, what's her phone number?"
All I'm saying, and this would go for anyone you recruit, is as a leader of one organization to the leaders of ZT, tell your probies up front what they can and can't do...it'll save you a lot of future situations like this one. I didn't even know I was on probation until I read it here... I didn't know that I HAD to get Ventrilo and buy a microphone...I didn't know that I HAD to ID myself if using an alias, etc. etc. etc.
I'll get off my soapbox and shut up and just play the game, but I have to ask the question: How many hundreds of other ZT rules are there that I (and maybe other ZT mbrs) don't know about?

Now that he mentions it...We did have a rules page on the old site but since thats down, and i dont think we have the rules listed on this site, i guess Alone didn't know about all this stuff.
